The Gift of Diversity

Welcome to the June edition of Conscious Shift Magazine as we venture down the rabbit hole of The Gifts of Diversity.

di·ver·si·ty:  the practice or quality of including or involving people from a range of different social and ethnic backgrounds and of different genders, sexual orientations, etc. “equality and diversity should be supported for their own sake”

I must admit I have been a little stuck about this month’s topic.  In fact, I think I’m still a little baffled about how to approach this one.

Diversity and its many gifts are an “eye of the beholder” kind of thing.  To me Diversity and its many gifts are so important that I don’t know where to start. Nor do I wish to cheapen its profound purpose with my version of an explanation.    With that being said I thank you for respecting my diverse thoughts on The Gift of Diversity.

As people we seem to forget that diversity is what makes the human experience great.

Diversity, by definition, is about everyone having the opportunity to live and experience life freely and as we choose.  The ability to make decisions like painting your house blue in a neighborhood filled with purple.  Or the choice to wear Converse instead of Nike or to eat tacos instead of Chinese. And how about diversity that involves inclusion of everyone regardless of their beliefs, traditions, how they look and if they choose to paint their house blue.

There are limitless examples of diversity and it’s the diversity that makes us and this planet great.  Yet it seems to me that we have all forgotten this. We have forgotten The Gift of Diversity.

Right now, more than ever, it’s important to remember that our diverse world is not falling apart its falling into alignment.  And that part of the alignment is about letting go of the fear that separates us and accept our diverse greatness. That when we embrace our differences and accept the purple house in our neighborhood, we get to live and experience the gifts to be found in  diversity.

Welcome down the rabbit hole of The Gift of Diversity
